Unlimited minutes - the holy grail of cell phone plans
You have all seen the ads. It started when one company offered the unheard of - UNLIMITED ANYTIME MINUTES FOR A SET FEE EVERY MONTH! Sure, that would be nice - except it was $100 per month! Dream on, that kind of plan is for movie actors, rockstars, and corporate CEOs, right?
Well, maybe - but in just a few short months, unlimited plans have gotten more and more normal. Now, almost everyone is offering them, and with all of the competition out there right now, consumers are seeing more and more minutes for less and less money.
True, to get a contract phone with unlimited minutes might be easy to find for $50 or so, but is there any way to go cheaper? Actually, there is. On some prepaid phones, you can get unlimited monthly minutes for as low as $45!
On some plans, you are lucky to get 200 anytime minutes for that amount of money, which brings us to a major problem - many cell phone users are paying just too much money for their minutes. Yes, you need to factor in things like text messaging, coverage area, and web data - but come on. If you are paying $70 per month for 600 anytime minutes, unlimited texting, and a certain allowance of web data, then you may not be getting the best deal out there.
Unlimited minutes are where it is headed. In the future, I see no reason why everyone will not have an unlimited plan. It is like an all you can eat buffet - people want to know that they are going to get enough for their money! Besides, who wants to limit their talking to just the nights and weekends? There is just no reason for it, which is why unlimited calling will get more and more popular.
